Breakfast
This is served in the traditional period dining room which has a large Bay window making the most of the morning sun. We use fine Edwardian embroidered table linen, silver cutlery along with fine porcelain china crockery.
You can start the day with a traditional full English breakfast, something lighter for those counting the calories or just something special. There is also always a selection of cereals, porridge, yogurts, fruit juice and fresh fruit available. We provide a good selection of preserves including homemade and local award winning varieties.
The ‘Full English’ includes free range eggs along with bacon and sausage sourced from local suppliers – vegetarian sausages are also available. For our Continental option we will provide fresh baked croissants and pastries.
We have a number of other menu options available to ensure that we can offer you a variety throughout your stay. Please let us know if you have any particular dietary requirements.
The Garden Room
This is reserved specifically for our guests to provide a place to read, get inspiration for their next day’s activities or just unwind. On arrival you will be welcomed here with a tea or coffee and some of our cakes or biscuits - usually homemade.
The room itself has been newly constructed but has been designed with sympathetic detail to ensure it blends in with the rest of the house. It has sofas and chairs so you can comfortably enjoy the views across the garden whatever the weather. You can relax in here any time of the day (and year as it’s fully heated) chat and perhaps enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple - you bring the drink we will provide the glasses. There is also a fridge (with ice tray) for the use of our guests.
You will find an ample supply of national and local magazines, guide books on the area, along with a selection of maps and books of local walks which you are free to borrow. There is also a large selection of board games etc. to keep you entertained.
The Gardens
Our guests are welcome to enjoy the large gardens and with three separate patio areas you can be sure to get the best of the views and the weather.
There is a selection of outdoor games available including boules and croquet; in fact the lawn in front of the garden room was originally laid as a croquet lawn. For those requiring something more active there is a basketball hoop, table tennis table, badminton net and all the required equipment.
